Wood is a naturally perfect product, very flexible and highly resistant in mechanical terms compared to its weight. As a natural raw material wood is renewable, durable, versatile and can be cost-effective. And, in the end, it is a perfectly and naturally beautiful material.

Depending on the house size and typology, the construction period of a MIMA House in factory varies between 8 to 12 weeks. The average time for assembly on site is 8 to 15 days.



MIMA Housing ensures a 5 year guarantee period after completion, in case of construction issues. In addition, MIMA House is delivered with a folder which contains all fact sheets and guarantees for each component; these can be activated in case of issues. Most of the materials we have chosen for MIMA House have a guarantee period over 40 years.



MIMA House floor, walls and ceiling are cladded with high density plaster and resins applied on tensile mesh, a resistant composite which includes a thick layer of insulation - suitable both for warm and cold climates. For sites with extreme climate conditions, we often reevaluate the project with our team of engineers and apply thicker versions of exterior walls. Also when it comes to extremely warm areas, we normally recommend our costumers to apply thicker glazing with stronger UV values.



There are several options for heating and we normally allow our clients to chose the one they prefer. For the environmental heating, the traditional air conditioning with a fan coil unit is the simplest and least expensive option. There’s also radiant floor as a slightly more expensive option. As for water heating, we normally recommend either a generator or an electric boiler connected to solar panels.



MIMA House has a double inclination roof, of 3% to each side. In each corner of the house there’s a down pipe that collects all the roof water and brings it down to the ground. The down pipes are completely embedded inside the large angular frame, and therefore completely hidden.



Three different foundation types can be used in a MIMA House, depending on the land qualities. The most popular versions are either a simple concrete base or local concrete supports. A wooden foundation structure is preferred when the land is protected and does not allow for a big intervention.



Amongst all structural materials, wood is certainly one of the most flexible building materials: it has one of the best strength/weight ratios when compared to others. MIMA’s structural solution - light yet very resistant - (micro-laminated wood made of the assembly of thin sheets of Nordic Pine) lend MIMA House an excellent stability and a great seismic behavior.  The current project suits areas with average seismic activity. However, for areas with extreme seismic influence, the project must be reviewed by our engineers.



The molecular structure of wood makes it very resistant to high temperatures, as it neither melts nor splits. Carbonized wood acts as a barrier that does not allow gases and heat to pass through, making it difficult for fire to spread out and allowing a longer evacuation time.



A MIMA unit is normally quite straight forward to assemble as the full system has been planned for an easy construction. MIMA pieces are repeated very often within the unit and therefore the time waste gets reduced. Normally a team of 4 to 5 men is necessary for building the house within the estimated time.



MIMA House project has been developed to meet all legal requirements. The approval process guarantees certification at an European level. MIMA House is delivered with a complete folder of drawings that may be necessary for licensing procedures (architecture and engineering), fact sheets and guarantees of all components.
